Custom Nameplates

None of the sizes in our lineup feel quite right. Or you already know the exact dimensions of the spot where it will go.

In that case, just tell us the dimensions and we will make it from there. You can request a quote using the form at the bottom of this page.

Any proportion you like, up to 30 cm square

You can specify any size up to 30 cm × 30 cm. We make long, narrow shapes as well as shapes close to a square.

If you would like a larger nameplate, please ask us as well.

Standard thicknesses are 11 mm and 25 mm. We make other thicknesses as well, so let us know what you would like.

For the back, you can choose a flat or chamfered finish. Chamfering means cutting the edges at an angle. The nameplate appears to float off the wall, and its shadow sets it off.

A daruma hole (keyhole slot on the back) requires a thickness of 25 mm or more. The 11 mm thickness can be mounted with double-sided tape for home use.

Four wood species, three lettering finishes

There are four wood species: Keyaki (Zelkova), Walnut, Hard Maple, and Cherry.

There are three lettering finishes: laser engraving (dark brown), white fill, and black fill. We can also color the lettering in other colors, such as gold.

You can choose from the fonts featured in our simulator. Fonts that are not in the list can also be used if they are available in Adobe Fonts. We also support traditional and variant kanji.

Once your design is confirmed, HARUTAKE selects the board from our stock. The grain differs on every piece.

Shop signs, logo engraving, and orders for multiple pieces

Shop signs, room signs for offices and clinics, guest room plates for inns, nameplates for apartment buildings — we make all of these.

We can also engrave logos and illustrations. Artwork should ideally be an AI or PDF file with outlined paths. Outlining means saving the image as point-and-line information.

Even if you only have a JPEG or PNG, we can often convert it to paths. As a rule, there is no additional charge for submitting your own artwork.

Engraving is done by laser, so there are limits to how fine lines and the flicks and dry-brush strokes of calligraphy can be reproduced. We will let you know at the quote stage whether the artwork you send can be engraved.

The nameplate itself is made from a board cut to your dimensions, and the lettering and logo are rendered by engraving and coloring.

We can also provide a quotation and an invoice. Please fill in the "Invoice addressee" field in the form.

Before engraving, we email you a design proposal. Changes to the layout or font are also welcome at this stage. The wood used in the design proposal is a sample. Please note that the actual nameplate you receive will look different. After the first proposal, up to 3 revisions are included. If you would like further adjustments, we are happy to make them for ¥1,000 per revision.

Payment is by bank transfer; we will send you the details.

Sizes not in our lineup are made after materials are procured specifically for your order. For this reason, we cannot accept changes after you order. You can take your time deciding on the dimensions at the quote stage.

We do not take inquiries by phone. Receiving the names and fonts to be engraved in writing lets us make your nameplate without mistakes.

If you are unsure about the size, try drawing it on paper and taping it to the wall. It gives you a real sense of the size.

A nameplate displays the name of your home. You can choose from our lineup, or start from the dimensions — either way works.

If you already know the size that fits the spot, just tell us those dimensions as they are.
